Action News Jax: Lilli's Light Interview

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, Lilli’s Light had the honor of being invited to Action News Jax to share about our recent trip to Washington, D.C. Ashley and Wendy sat down with

Jennifer to talk not just about the trip — but about the heart behind the mission.

Jennifer asked Wendy about her platform at Jacksonville University and the groundbreaking step of becoming the first university in the area to install free Narcan cabinets accessible to students and staff. Wendy shared how important it was to remove stigma and barriers — that access to Narcan means access to second chances. It’s about protection, education, and empowering a community to save lives.

When Jennifer asked Ashley what the trip to Washington, D.C. meant to her, the emotion was undeniable. Walking the streets of our nation’s capital carrying the weight of loss — but also the fire of purpose — is something words can barely capture. It was a mixture of grief and pride. Heartache and honor. To stand in rooms where policies are shaped, representing loved ones taken too soon, was both heavy and sacred.

Jennifer then asked Wendy the same question. Wendy spoke about courage — about how pain can either silence you or move you. She spoke about choosing to move.

Finally, Jennifer asked Ashley how she has learned to heal from her grief. The answer was honest and raw. Healing doesn’t mean the pain disappears.

It means you learn to carry it differently.

It means turning devastation into determination. It means honoring the lives lost by fighting for the living. Healing has come through action, through advocacy, through Lilli’s Light — and through knowing that our loved ones’ stories are creating change.

The trip to Washington, D.C. is a memory that will last a lifetime. It was an honor that will never be forgotten. Lilli’s Light was not just present — it was heard. Conversations were had. Awareness was raised. Doors were opened. And most importantly, lives will be impacted because of it.

Lilli’s Light exists because love doesn’t end when a life does. This cause is about prevention, education, access, and breaking the silence around Fentanyl and Overdose. It’s about making sure fewer families have to join a club no one ever wants to be part of.

If you believe in protecting our communities, if you believe one life saved is worth the effort, stand with us. Share the message. Support the mission. Advocate for access. Carry Narcan. Have the hard conversations.

Because Light shines Brightest in the Darkest places — and Together, we can be that Light.
