Sawyer, Micah Jr.
Micah William Sawyer, Jr. had an incredibly big heart and a beautiful smile that lit up every room. He gave big bear hugs to everyone and made friends wherever he went. Micah was full of energy, always making people laugh, and was known for his loving and caring nature. His greatest joy was simply being around others.
At Analy High School, where he graduated in 2014, Micah played football and was one of the most well-known and respected students on campus. He served as captain of the football team, broke the school’s weightlifting record, and was considered one of the strongest athletes on the team. In 2025, he and his teammates from the 2012 Varsity football team were inducted into the Analy Athletic Hall of Fame for achieving the best record in the school’s history.
Micah loved the outdoors and adventure. He spent countless hours diving in the ocean, camping with family and friends, riding motorcycles and quads, hunting, and boating. He was always pushing himself—whether improving his wake boarding skills or competing in football and wrestling. He had a strong work ethic and a natural ability to learn, later completing the Construction Management program at Sonoma State University and working in the family construction business, where he thrived.
Micah also faced struggles with addiction that began at a young age. Despite periods of hardship, including time spent unhoused, he remained deeply loved by his family. In early 2019, after the loss of his grandmother, he returned home, began to rebuild his life, found a job, and was in recovery.
Tragically, on June 21, 2019, Micah’s life was taken by fentanyl poisoning. Like many, he did not know the danger—believing he was using something else. He had a lethal amount of fentanyl in his system.
Not a day goes by that he is not thought of and deeply missed. His infectious smile, boisterous laugh, and kind heart continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
